Located on the shore of Lake Kalajärvi, the Haiku Sauna offers soft steam and a truly unique atmosphere. The sauna accommodates larger groups, and the lake adds an extra sensory dimension to the experience.
A Courtyard Grown from a Dream
The story of Kivitasku began in the 1980s, when Hannu Nousiainen set out to build a place where nature, family, craftsmanship, and community would come together. The buildings were created gradually, with the help of friends and relatives.
The architecture draws inspiration from Finnish traditions, the Kalevala, and both Eastern and Western wooden construction. Over the years, a collection of buildings emerged in the forest by Lake Kalajärvi—each one handcrafted and built from natural materials.
The smoke sauna was built from aspen logs sourced from the surrounding forest, set on a rock by the lakeshore. Its soft heat and mystical atmosphere have left a lasting impression on many visitors.
